Women's briefs for every day
Our cotton briefs are made with at least 90% organic cotton, in mid-rise and high-rise cuts, and nearly every style comes in XXS to XXL. Briefs are the classic cut of women's underwear: full or moderate coverage front and back, a waistband at or just below the natural waist, and a leg that ends at the top of the thigh.
What are women's briefs used for?
Briefs are the pair most people reach for on an ordinary day, under skirts and trousers, and for sleeping in. If you like a bit more length, our women's shorties run further down the leg, shorter than a boxer brief and fuller than a brief.
Briefs or undies: what is the difference?
Undies is the umbrella word for anything worn as underwear: briefs, hipsters, thongs, the lot. Briefs rise higher and cover more than a thong or a cheeky style, and they cover less leg than shorties, which makes them the baseline the other cuts are measured against. Our women's underwear collection has every cut side by side.
Can you wear briefs to bed?
Yes, and plenty of people do. Briefs cover you without much fabric, and the waistband is soft, so they are an easy choice for sleeping in, especially the cotton styles.
What are our briefs made of?
Our organic cotton briefs are made with at least 90% organic cotton and a little elastane for stretch. Cotton is soft, easy to wash and comfortable all day, so it is the fabric to start with. We also make briefs with at least 70% recycled nylon, and styles made with TENCEL™ Lyocell, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose and TENCEL™ Modal fibres. Every product page lists the exact fabric composition. If you want underwear as close to 100% cotton as it gets, the styles made with 95% organic cotton are together on one page: organic cotton underwear for women, 95%.
Mid-rise or high-rise?
Mid-rise briefs sit a little below the navel and work under most things, and high-rise briefs come up to the natural waist, which many people prefer under high-waisted trousers. Nearly every style comes in XXS to XXL, most go up to XXXL, and some to 4XL; the size guide on each pair has the measurements.
Stocking up and caring for them
Many styles come in 3-packs and 6-packs, which is the easy way to replace a drawer at once. Machine wash cold to help the band keep its stretch, and skip the tumble dryer.
TENCEL™ and ECOVERO™ are each a trademark of Lenzing AG.
